Getting Started with byHeart Flashcards

Ready to start learning with your flashcards? This guide shows you how to begin a study session in the byHeart app, how the smart repetition algorithm works, and how to track your progress over time.

Tutorial

Step 1: Start a Learning Session

• On the home screen, tap Study on the collection you want to learn.
• Alternatively, open the collection and tap Study from the collection view. This will start your personalized flashcard session based on your progress and performance history.

Step 2: Study with Flashcards

• You’ll see the first flashcard. Tap the card to reveal the answer.
• Swipe right if you knew the answer, or swipe left if you didn’t.
• The next card will appear automatically — our AI-based learning algorithm prioritizes cards you need to review most often.
• At the top of the screen, you’ll see a session timer and card counter to help you stay on track. This system uses active recall and spaced repetition to help you remember information longer.

Step 3: Finish Your Session

• When you’re ready to finish, tap the Exit button in the top-left corner.
• You’ll see a session summary showing your accuracy percentage, study time, and overall progress.
• Once you’re done reviewing, return to the home screen to start another collection or take a break.

Step 4: Check Insights and Stay Motivated

• Tap the Insights icon on the bottom bar of the home screen to view your streaks and learning statistics from previous sessions.
• Visit your insights regularly to stay motivated and track your improvement over time.
